Career Ready Students and Mentors got to know each other this morning and look forward to the journey ahead. Abbey Community College would like to thank Henderson, Citi Bank, PWC, Santander, HMRC and PA Consulting Group for their commitment to the launch of the Career Ready Programme. Students, Mentors, Tony Madden, (Regional Manager for N. Ireland) Mrs Quinn (Principal) and Laura Watson (Head of Careers) are all excited about the opportunities that the Career Ready programme will provide for the students in preparation for the world of work.
Career Development Sixth Form enjoyed the various sessions which helped inform them of the correct mind-set required to succeed in the ever changing world of work! Abbey Community College would like to thank Kerry McClintock from Antrim Enterprise and her team.
Year 12 Work Experience Students are enjoying an insight to a variety of careers. There have been very positive comments from employers and we are proud of our students. Abbey Community College would like to thank all Employers for providing this invaluable experience.
As part of Enterprise Week, Young Enterprise Northern Ireland hosted ‘Digital Industry Masterclass’ in partnership with Newtownabbey Borough Council at Mossley Mill. Students were tasked with the challenge to come up with a smartphone application to help young people. Abbey Community College students achieved first place against four other participant schools. The winning group proposed a smartphone app ‘Steps to Success’ which looked at helping students with their GCSE’s.
Abbey Students showcase the Participatory Card Game “My Place” designed by their Sixth Form Business Students. Abbey Community College would like to thank Louise O’ Kane from Community Places for organising the event and Glengormley High and Edmund Rice College for joining them to play the game.
